2012 Season

TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Description: Musicals at Richter is seeking a Technical Director for their 2012 Summer Season (includes 3 shows and a theatre camp).  The Technical Director is responsible for making sure that all technical aspects of a show are carried out in a timely fashion. This includes coordinating the set design, lighting and set construction, and handling any technical details needed during performances.  The Technical Director is responsible for working with the Artistic Director and Executive Director to recruit and hire lighting, sound and set crew. The TD will need to ensure the maintenance of the set during the run of each production, in conjunction with the stage manager; this should include minor repairs as necessary.  Other responsibilities include purchasing materials, building and installation of sets and props, managing a scenic budget for each production, and managing the strike and load in of each production. A successful candidate will have strong organizational, time management, leadership skills, and function well in a fast paced atmosphere.  This position will include some days, nights and weekends; schedule to be discussed. 

There is a stipend of $1500 - $2000 (negotiable based on experience) attached to this position.  Internship credit can also be discussed for students.  No housing available. STAGE MANAGER

Descripton:  Musicals at Richter is now accepting applications for two Stage Manager positions for the 2012 summer season (Nunsense: The Mega Musical & Brigadoon).  Ideal candidate must posses a professional attitude and have prior stage managerial experience. The stage manager is present at all performances. He/she communicates remotely with technical crew as well as coordinating the stage crew for any scene changes that may be called for. The stage manager also assists with the production from the start. The stage manager should be present at every stage rehearsal (and choreography/music rehearsal, if possible!). At the beginning of each rehearsal, the stage manager should call the cast to order and phone unexpectedly absent members. During rehearsal, the stage manager should maintain order in the cast and record blocking notes for the director. As production week approaches and the cast go off book, the stage manager provides line cues when necessary.  The stage manager may also deal with discipline problems within the cast, as well as various administrative tasks relating to the cast.  During the production, the stage manager will need to be the first present at the theatre and ensure that all aspects of the production are ready to go.  He/she will work closely with the producer, director, choreographer, and musical director on all aspects of the production.  On show nights, the stage manager along with the house manager and/or a board member, will ensure all lights are turned off after each show, all doors are locked, and that the Richter house/lawn is cleaned up and left in a respectable condition.

PRODUCTION MANAGER / PRODUCER

 

Musicals at Richter is now accepting applications for three Production Manager/Producer positions for the 2012 summer season (Nunsense: The Mega Musical, Brigadoon, & Bye Bye Birdie).  . This is a wonderful opportunity to work at a summer theatre and oversee the fast paced work environment at this unique outdoor venue. Perfect for an energetic, ambitious person looking for a career in production management. Applicants must possess a thorough understanding of technical theatre and be able to organize and manage the production needs. This position will require dedication and attention for the approximately nine weeks of the production calendar. Must communicate with directors, designers, stage managers and work with the production staff to provide a complete calendar outlining the course of the show. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to production scheduling, attending weekly production meetings, overseeing the scenic build, overseeing current production on stage, ensuring production values are maintained, maintaining the production budget, sourcing products, working with the props manager. This position is very hands on. Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any role that becomes necessary to complete each production. We have three open Production Manager/Producer positions.

HOUSE MANAGER

Description: Musicals at Richter seeks a House Manager for our 2012 Summer Season (Nunsense: The Mega Musical, Brigadoon, & Bye Bye Birdie).  This position could be for one, two or three shows pending on candidate availability.  Ideal candidate must possess a professional attitude, strong customer service skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.  The house manager will be responsible for the smooth operation of the house during the run of the show. Key duties may include: Working collaboratively with our volunteer coordinator on the recruiting of all house workers (ushers, greeter, box office, trolley drivers, refreshments, etc.); coordinating building opening times on show nights with stage manager; orienting and training all house workers; explaining how tickets are to be taken and where they are to be stored; checking rest rooms after intermission and at end of night; cleaning house area and restocking supplies; along with the stage manager and/or a board member, ensure all lights are turned off after each show, all doors are locked, and that the Richter house/lawn is cleaned up and left in a respectable condition.
